My name is Mel Watkins and I spent the first 10 years of my adult life in a toxic cycle with drugs and alcohol. My biggest problem was I worked in an industry that ENCOURAGED me to party and socialise with clients, I was even given an allowance to wine and dine them and trust me when I say, I made FULL use of the allowance!

Initially it was a very acceptable part of my life, I was in my early 20’s having ‘the time of my life’, working my way up the corporate ladder, all my friends were living in similar ways. What took me longer to realise was, as the years rolled by, my friends started to set boundaries and make healthy lifestyle choices and I continued to get more and more reliant on drugs and alcohol.

I was making bad choice after bad choice and had started pushing all of the people that I loved further and further away..

I was lucky to find the help that I needed when I did. Working with a therapist completely turned my life around, I put in the time, I learnt the skills and I did the work.

But there was still something missing in the support I had received..

I didn’t want to go to rehab, my behavior started and finished in the real world, but working with a therapist 1:1 felt alienating. I started dreaming up a course… I wanted a program that held me accountable for the way I reacted to my emotions and offered me new strategies to apply in real time.. I wanted a community of people that I could actually relate to, people going through the same thing as me, who wanted the same outcome as me. I wanted a program which encouraged me to take back control of how I wanted my life..a program that gave me the courage to dream of what that life looked like..

And that’s when I started…

Melisa Watkins Therapy (MWT)

MWT is a program  which combines group connection and 1 on 1 therapy. it runs for 12 weeks and comprised of three pillars;

 

  • Pillar #1 - THE WHY - weeks 1-4

    In the first four weeks we uncover your why, we find your pain point, the route of your behaviour and we teach you how to own it and use it as your strength.These four weeks are all about creating awareness, awareness of the problem, awareness around substances and most importantly, self awareness.

 

  • Pillar #2 - THE LEARNING - weeks 5-8

    Now that we’ve peeled back your alcohol mask, in weeks 5-8 we teach you to create a safe internal space so you can deal with the raw self you are left with without alcohol. You learn new tools to replace old destructive habits and start to apply those to your every day, noting where you are triggered and returning to that safe space to find healthy solutions with the support of your therapist, Mel.

 

  • Pillar #3 - THE BREAK-THROUGH - weeks 9-12

    The final four weeks are about mastering your learning. These four weeks are a time of action, you will be problem solving, challenging yourself, making changes where you need to make changes, becoming a master of your own life. In these four weeks you align your visions of the future with your daily practice.

Here’s How It Works:

  • You will have your 1:1 assessment call with Mel.
  •  Mel then creates you your very own tailored treatment plan.
  •  You will be given access to your private dashboard which will track your progress and show your goals.
  •  Each week you will have 1:1 counselling with Mel.
  •  Your weekly activity will be sent out to you on a Monday.
  •  Your three monthly group coaching call links will be sent out on enrollment.
  •  Don’t forget your new sober gang is waiting for you in the members only group, you will receive a link on enrollment to join.

MEET YOUR COUNSELLOR MEL

Mel Watkins is a qualified psychotherapist

with experience in both hospital and private practice settings, she has helped countless clients reduce and quit their reliance on substances, she has extensive training and knowledge including the below qualifications;

  • Graduate diploma of counselling with Australian College of Applied Professions.
  • Practicing certified licensed psychotherapist/counsellor approved by The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
  • Certified coach with Authentic Education.
  • Dialectical Behaviour Skills Training with Dr Marsha Linehan.
  • Currently studying a graduate certificate of Psychology with Australian College of Applied Professions.
